1.0 out of 5 stars Not for the Visual Learner 24 Jan 2010
By Chad A. Timm - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I do not recommend this product to anyone, particularly a visual learner. My plan was to load the audio CD onto my iPhone and have the phrase book in hand to practice some Vietnamese before my trip. The problem is that the audio CD and the book have nothing to do with one another. Listening to the audio CD is pointless for me: there's no way I'll remember the 30+ words per track without any visual reference just by repeating after the speaker. As a foreign language teacher myself, I find this approach incredibly weak. I would look elsewhere for your Vietnamese crash course, like the iTunes app store, perhaps.

does not work like a dictionary you have to go through all their phrases to find out what you want to say you cant just type in a question or word.

Had some good information, though the translations were sometimes off. I used this in conjunction with another phrasebook, "Basic Vietnamese". The other book became my main phrasebook. Note: used this on my kindle paperwhite.
