From normal every day life, hanging about with friends to the brutal battle fields of Vietnam.
This film takes you on a trip from Australian middle class family life to what happens when conscription takes the young men from their domestic bliss and into a life they never thought they would see.
You see what happens on the battlefield and how this changes happy go lucky guys into killing machines, yet at the same time see the way their families attempt to cope with their losses while sons are away and daughters join the anti war groups......Like a good book you wont be able to stop watching

This mini-series is a deeply moving account of one families experiences during the Vietnam War. It also stars Nicole Kidman in one of her first TV roles.
It covers the experiences of a young Australian soldier sent out to Vietnam on a tour of duty and how his family deals with this. They are ardently against the war and protest for withdrawal. This hurts the young soldier hugely as he feels they are against him. Beautiful, funny and sad, Vietnam covers all aspects of the war years with great sensivity.

This is a fantastic adaptation and very moving and sad at times. I'm really waiting for this to come out on DVD!
