I currently have the previous version of vietcong, and thought that was good but when i played this for the first time its so much better this time round. The guns and the missions are all obviously thought out well by the guys who made the game but the only problem with the game is the slow refresh rate i have been experiencing as other reviews of this have said. If it wasnt for this it would be 5 stars. Hopefully a new patch will come available to solve it!hope this helps!

Fire in the hole!!! 20 Jun 2004
I loved the original Vietcong game when it was released, even though initial reviews were harsh and critical. Eventually, most people "saw the light" and it is now acknowledged as a great game. I think the same will happen with this expansion pack - the intial release has been followed up by v1.6 patch, but I have to say that even before installing this patch I found the game ran very smoothly on my AMD +3200 XFX5950 setup. As stated by others here, the maps are great, the graphics are great, the AI is great.

So why only 4 stars? Well, the original single player game kept me busy for a good month, playing a couple of hours per night with the odd night off to play Medal of Honour. I completed this one in just 3 nights - yes, 3 nights!!! And I am not partcularly good at these things if my performance on internet games is anything to go by.

The internet games are very good with some excellent maps to add to the original game. However, personally, I feel all the maps basically involve creeping around in jungle or a spooky cave or a spooky temple-type-place, looking for the enemy and being shot dead before I see so much as a wide-mouthed-frog!!! I always seem to have the wrong weapon, and there is no way of changing, as you can in say Call of Duty, without dropping out of the game server and logging back in, running the risk of loosing your place. A small niggle to some perhaps, but having spent hours playing Medal of Honour and Call of Duty, I do feel the gameplay in the multiplayer Vietcong just does not have the same degree of playability, which is a shame as the game simply oozes quality in every other respect.

I got this game today 31/01/2004.it is terrible.I have P4 2.0ghz,1.25gb rdram,Radeon 9800 pro 128mb video card.and still i get bad fps.i was expecting ALOT from this game and i got nothing.however take 2 might release a patch soon to fix this problem.Until then i will not play this game.waist of time.Trying to shoot the enemy with 9 fps is impossible.

THE GAME:

apart from the bad fps the game is excellent. The maps are very well made. The attention to detail is brilliant.(First level because i only played 1st level and some of the second because of fps)

WEAPONS:OK as usual you have to unlock all the good ones before you can use them (M16).Some of the VC weapons are quite good too.

The reason i gave this one star is because of the fps.If the fps were ok i would give this game 4 stars. the reason i would not give it 5 stars is because of the length of the game 7 missions is not enough.
