Product Description

Marie-Hélène is fed up of being a single girl. Her best friend Josette, who has a boyfriend takes great pleasure in reminding her of how old and how single she is. Josette also tells Marie-Hélène's over critical mother, who is appalled by her daughter's single marital status, that she likes to go to 'girls only' clubs. She finally joins a dating agency and is shocked when she discovers who her date turns out to be!

This book is a French easy reader, suitable for beginners. An English translation of each chapter is included. (Also available in Spanish)

Top draw! 7 Oct 2011
By Jane
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is excellent for learning to read proper French. It is not too long, and not too short. The text is very entertaining and quite addictive with all the dynamics going on in the story. The language is not super basic, but I learned more French because of this, and the English translation and exercises are very useful addition to the text. I am going to buy the follow on book, L'homme de mes reves, because learning French with La vie celibataire was more like a treat than a chore. More please!

This book is as good as I hoped, and a great way to learn a lot of French. I did need to consult the English translation for some parts, but on the whole I understood a lot of the story. The protagonist Marie-Helene is a great character, and I really enjoyed reading the dialogue between her, Josette and her mother. It is so good to be able to read something like this in French. Great ending that left the story set to continue, so I've bought the second book. Note to the publisher, are there going to be more of these books available?

Quel surprise! 5 Oct 2011
By Emily
Format:Kindle Edition
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of French that I picked up from this book. It's brilliant, the language is not as basic as most easy readers, so it was good to get the opportunity to read and learn some real French, as spoken by native French speakers. I found that my confidence started to build the more I read, the story is very interesting and entertaining which again encouraged me to continue to read. It's great to learn with an good plot. I have bought the following book, and it looks like Marie-Helene is going to meet her man, and I hope that there will be others like these. I even enjoyed doing the exercises to test understanding. I would love these books in a CD version to listen to in my car, is there any chance of that?
