I have been a fan of the Maglite brand for about ten years when I bought a mini Maglite which continues to serve me very well. The Solitaire in this set is the most compact torch Mag produce and is made to the same high standards as the rest of the range. Using a single AAA battery it provides a good beam you focus by twisting the cap.

Victorinox multi tools are fantastic quality. I have a Climber model already. I must admit that for me the main attraction is the quality of the product. They are a pleasure to own and use. The tool in this set has a narrow blade, scissors and nail file. It's very compact and ideal for keeping on your person. When you use Victorinox scissors you will wonder why most regular scissors are so awfully made, particularly if you are left handed.

Presented in a neat case with battery and torch lead, this is an excellent set that is an ideal introduction to these brands and will delight anybody who appreciates well designed and manufactured tools.

I got this for my girlfreind at christmas (not just this, don't judge me). Although she couldn't quite see the point of it at first (she thought it was going to be a nice diamond necklace as it said 'solitaire' on the box) I think she quite likes it now.

Personally I think it's a brilliant little piece of kit, sturdy and very useful to have on your keyring for all states of affairs, or to have in the glove box of a car. The scissors are just the right size for cutting eye holes in news papers so you can stalk people, and the torch is not only bright, but also discreet - perfect for breaking and entering a property.

On a serious note, I'd recommend it to 99% of people... the other 1% may take some convincing.

The victorinox Co. make the best series of pocket knives. I was given one of their knives many years ago and ever since have always carried one. I prefer the the small one with just knife file and scissors. the only snagI found is that after using the scissors the spring breaks and I have never been able to replace this spring.
