I bought this to replace my wife's favourite kitchen knife after I accidentally broke it. It is sharp. Really sharp. I drew it up my forearm and now have a patch without any hair. I bought the Victorinox based on the Swiss Army Knife heritage - mine is 30 years old and still is perfect (although somewhat worn in appearance). I recently had to replace our kitchen scissors and the Victorinox kitchen scissors are so super sharp her ladyship has put them right at the back of the counter for fear of damaging herself. So the Victorinox Chef's knife was an easy choice. Buy it...

If you love cooking this is a fantastic knife and I would recommend you to buy this one. You don't need to spend hundreds of pounds buying the top class knives (unless you have a lot of money to spare of course)!
Just to put you into perspective, I am disabled with weak back and back muscles, also problems to my shoulder and elbow, and I find this knife very balanced and very sharp that I can manage cutting meats without aggravating my condition.

Very sharp. While cutting, my thumb was, as you'd expect, near the lower edge of the blade where the handle joins it, and one slight touch of the thumb on the rear portion of blade sliced me nicely and produced blood that made one of my kids go odd.
Probably my fault, not the knife's, but be careful in that area of it.
I love its sharpness and ease of use, and it washes in the dishwasher with no ill effects. Be aware that a broad blade can be useful for most tasks but if you're slicing potatoes, for instance, the spud slices will adhere to the wide surface area of the blade and cling all over it.
