Not a great tool for a gardener, the knife isn't that strong and the small parts are easily lost (for me at least). I work in IT/Software so this is perfect for me at work. When gardening I use a variety of knives but this is a good every day pocket knife I use mainly in my greenhouse: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-Blumenmesser-gerade-Klinge-3-9050/dp/B000MLY1Y8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1417122323&sr=8-5&keywords=victorinox+florist This might also be a good option though I personally don't own one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-3-9045-Horticulture-Knife-Nylonred/dp/B000MLSEIC/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1417122323&sr=8-6&keywords=victorinox+florist

The light can shine to about ten meters before it starts to fade. The battery is insane easy to replace if you are gentle and I have had mine for over a year and I have not had to replace it yet
