I had the original Cybertool back in the early noughties and of all the gizmos I've owned, I can honestly say it has been in use almost daily (if not weekly) since I've had it. The screwdriver bits are worth their weight in gold - not just for IT work - but everyday things around the house/car/bike. Plus there's the quality blades, the best nail scissors you can find, an essential corkscrew (with mini screwdriver for your glasses), pen (aka comedy dipswitch prodder) and the pen still worked when needed 10 years on!, a random pin (or iPhone sim remover), superb tweezers and pliers (great for nose hair, er, I'm not getting on a bit) - and even a toothpick. There's also that the weird hook and pointy thing with a hole in it, which I've never understood, but hey, I've never been in the Swiss Army.
Anyway, despite a decade of carefully avoiding carrying it in hand luggage in aircraft, I carelessly swapped daypacks at the last minute while taking my girls to EuroDisney. The security detail in the Disneystapo spotted it and destroyed it. My wife spotted my distress and for my birthday, bought me this, the Cybertool Lite - and I'm delighted.
There's now a solid (and satisfying) clickback to the closing movement, the saw is now gone - but it was bit of a waste anyway, as it never went in a straight line and was too wide - but the essentials are still there. And don't forget the bright LED light and the magnifying glass, which I'm now forcing my girls to examine everything close up.
As my headline suggests, what was an essential item - of top quality - has now been improved. it's a bit chunkier, but whether you are camping, fixing your glasses, or just need an emergency screwdriver, light, or even eyebrow pluckers for your wife - this does it all, and in spades. Quality.
