Product Description

"Aside from being aware that he was a pre-eminent scientist of his day, as a family we know very little about the gentleman who apparently wrote this text." Eighteen months ago, a manuscript was found. Written in 1900, the pages recount one man's story, a story of the future, a story about the end of humanity and the final battle between good and evil. James D Quinton spent a year transcribing this remarkable account and now, at last, over one hundred years later, this incredible tale is available. A speculative fiction novel combining elements of science fiction/fantasy and pre-apocalyptic dystopia, The Victorian Time Traveller shows us civilization on the edge of darkness. "If only you could have seen for yourself what becomes of the human race, you would weep, as I do now." Discover how the world ends...

5.0 out of 5 stars A little ahead of its time..., 9 Dec 2011
This review is from: The Victorian Time Traveller (Paperback)
Finally got around to reading this, it only took me a year! A rollicking good read from start to finish. The novel mixes meta-fiction, autobiographical narrative, science fiction, action and dystopia with a huge dash of liberal faith theology sprinkled on top. The sheer audacity of it is quite breathtaking. With the combined genres Quinton constructs a fast moving story that takes pop shots at anti-theism, fundamentalist Christianity, whilst reaffirming the need for love and peace in the world. Not everyone's cup of darjeeling, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope more people will read it and, hopefully, embrace its message.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good, 5 Jan 2012

Really enjoyed The Victorian Time Traveller. I found the story incredibly imaginative. Recommended if you enjoy science fiction novels that have something to say or are just looking for something a little bit different.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Victorian time traveller, 20 Nov 2011
This review is from: The Victorian Time Traveller (Paperback)
I bought this book because of it's links to progressive Christianity. Although it is a quite interesting story, I cannot really reconcile these claims to be particularly radical in theological terms.
