It was also a period of travel and many items were brought into the country from distant lands, and the Great Exhibition of 1851 furthered this interest.

3.0 out of 5 stars Victorian Shopping - a useful resource 24 Jun 2000
By Dylan Craig - Published on Amazon.com
This useful little book provides a very good insight into Victorian advertising, medicine, footwear, farmer's markets, etc... basically the whole run from chain stores to street vendors. A broader geographical focus would have made the book truly indispensable, but unfortunately it lacks this feature.
