Product details

Product Description

Dutton Epoch presents music from the USA in three distinctive and tuneful turn-of-the-century works for string orchestra by Victor Herbert and Arthur Foote - including the early serenades for strings by each composer and Foote's later Suite. Played by London Octave conducted by Kypros Markou, the serenades are world premieres of the complete works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rare find...new American Serenades 26 Dec 2010
By Helen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Wonderful collection of rarely heard string serenades by American composers. The Foote is reminicent of the Bohemian (Czech) Antonin Dvorak String Serenade and the others are just as enchanting. Bravo to Maestro Markou for researching these hidden gems. The string playing is sensitive, balanced and expressive. I highly recommend this terrific CD.
