Vicky Bhogal is a food writer whose first cookbook was the bestselling and highly acclaimed Cooking Like Mummyji in 2003, a love letter to the Punjabi Indian food she was brought up on. It won the Jeremy Round award for Best First Book at the Guild of Food Writers Awards and short-listed for Best Book at the Glenfiddich Awards. Vicky also compiled and edited the celebrity recipe book A Fair Feast in 2005. Ensuring 100% of the profits went to the cause she holds so dear, it has raised over £100,000 for The Fairtrade Foundation and Oxfam's Make Trade Fair Campaign. 2006 saw the release of Vicky's third book, A Year of Cooking Like Mummyji, exploring British Asian styles of cookery against the backdrop of the seasons. Vicky also created her own authentic Indian food range, 'Just Like Mummyji's' exclusively with Tesco 2004-2007, winning her a Grocer Award in 2006. Vicky's latest book, 'FLAVOUR: A World of Beautiful Food' shows how she applies the intuitive approach to cookery and flavours learnt from her family, and widened it to the new flavours she has come across in her life and travels over the years, from balsamic to wasabi. She takes an array of delicious global ingredients and shows how to combine them according to their flavour profiles in simple and imaginative ways, to create exciting new dishes, just as she does in her kitchen every day, along with cooking traditional Indian dishes and those from all other cuisines. Flavour was shortlisted as Best Hardback Book in the world under 35 EUROS in the 2010 Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards. Vicky lives, cooks and eats in her beloved London and is currently working on the launch of her own restaurant, television projects, a revised reprint version of Cooking Like Mummyji and features for her website www.vickybhogal.com. She would like to take this opportunity to warmly and deeply thank all of those who have taken the time and trouble to write reviews of her books on Amazon and appreciates all their comments and feedback.
