The case looked well made, but did not fit and I practically destroyed every fastener thinking that was the reason. No! It had two metal round pegs sticking above the case edge on the bottom half! Why? I sawed these down and then the case closed properly and everything worked.
Instructions would have helped as well as before I realised the case had a defect, I thought I had maybe put the lid on the wrong way.
If you want to open the case, take care. You need a needle (yes) and force and could cause additional damage.
I now have my optical drive in an altered case. It works, and if these pegs are sawed down flush, you will have no problem. It would be perfect. There is nothing better out there from what I read and have tried so if you read this and are prepared to take these problems on, you can have a secure fitting case that does not rattle its contents around that looks like it goes with a MAC.
The vendor responded promptly to my issues and I am fully satisfied with the resolution. I feel confident they will resolve this "defect" in future shipments.
Build quality is decent and makes a nice cheap caddy for the disk drive I replaced in my Macbook, not essential but useful at time and better than throwing the diskdrive away if you are doing the same as I did.
