Item posted out with only the address, no name on the label.
Arrived at our company reception and consequently a security risk. with the potential of the item being discarded.

5.0 out of 5 stars The answer I have been looking for! 12 April 2011

First off I would like to say that I play electronic drums. But the cymbals I use are metal electronic cymbals (like the Alesis Surge Cymbals). I like these cymbals because they look and feel just like real acoustic cymbals. The problem is when you hit them with a regular drumstick, you get a ping sound from the stick on metal. You can get strike pads and things to put on the cymbal to make it quiet but that ruins the look and feel of the metal cymbal. Anyway I have been looking for a stick that was not so loud. I tried rubber tips, and they were great on the cymbals but made the drums feel funny. I finally saw these felt tip sticks and decided to give them a try. WOW! They are perfect for my application. They cut that annoying ping sound but they feel like regular tip sticks. I am very happy now and can continue drumming in quiet again on my electronic set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too dense, not worth it. 19 Aug 2010

I got really excited about these sticks a while back before I started shopping on amazon, finally ordered them the other day and I was very disappointed. The reason is that I own a pair of effects sticks (called rutes) from vic firth. They have natural a foam/cork core with about 8-10 little bamboo or wood sticks (kind of like some incense sticks) around the outside. They are so soft and have the warmest sound and I love them to death. They give your snares and toms a completely different sound, even though they aren't too good with cymbals. I was expecting a similar response from these sticks, seeing that the tips are made of felt. I was thinking something along the lines of thinner fiber, more aired out piece of felt, however what's on the stick is extremely dense and pretty much cancels the point of using them. Don't get me wrong they do have a different response, cymbals can really get interesting here as you basically have a set of soft mallets where you can get a nice shimmering effect etc. For the rest though it's almost comparable to a wooden tip a while it does sound warmer, it's not by very much.

If you want to hit some really funky stuff or experiment around a little I highly suggest the rutes, they are completely soft and very warm.

I purchased a pair of the Soft Touch sticks wanting to find something between regular wood tips and Hot Rods. These were no help, in fact, I have no idea what application or purpose they fill. On a ride cymbal they absolutely suck. You might as well play with a wet noodle. If I would have tested these at a music store, I would have known.
