Hopefully I am not the only person who laments the fading away of european/electronic music.A music you could lose yourself in and wonder at the'Colours In Your Mind'.I suppose Tangerine Dream typified this genre along with Klause Schulze and others.America was represented by Steve Roach, one of the few to remain prolific in the field.
Therefore in view of the 'famine' it is all the more warming to see a selection of the works of Thom Brennan available at such giveaway prices.A contemporary of Roach and very comparable, his albums exhibit the same atmospheric splendour and enveloping aura as the early masters of the genre.I suggest either a darkened room and great headphones or a view of the clear night sky(and headphones).Just let go and enjoy this wonderful music.

I happened across this album last year after downloading a Brian Eno album, and a couple of nature recordings on Amazon. It really opened me up to the world of ambient/space music, a genre of music I knew nothing about until recently.

The three tracks glide along, continuously evolving. Liquid synthesizer would be a good description. The addition of twinkling chimes/crickets/sound effects throughout the first two tracks adds an interesting dimension to the sound. I find this album hugely relaxing to listen to. It's very therapeutic after a stressful day at work. It can be enjoyed at a low volume as background music, or at a higher volume flowing out of the speakers, which I prefer because it almost sends me into a trance. The absence of beats/drums and vocals means it's very unobtrusive, so it doesn't distract me from what I'm doing. Usually I struggle to read with any music on, but not with this type of music. It's perfect for when you're surfing the internet, or reading a book.

If you like this album, I'd recommend another of Thom's albums called Mist, which has a similar style and tone to it.

Since buying this album, I've gone on to buy all of Thom's albums, which says a lot. I think this one is my favourite. Other ambient artists I've started listening to include - Jonn Serrie, Meg Bowles, Max Corbacho, Steve Roach, and Harold Budd.

I thought this would have been really up my street being a big fan of synth music Tangerine Dream etc. However, it tended to be a bit monotonous. I was waiting for a bit more variety. The 2nd track sounded just the same as the first. I guess it may well work for background music, but I like a little more to listen to.
