It has been shown that acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by viruses which are transmitted by sexual contact, transfusion, using contaminated blood products and sharing contaminated needles. HIV-1 and 2 viruses have been isolated from patients with AIDS and AIDS-related complex (ARC), high risk persons for AIDS. HIV-1 and 2 viruses deplete T helper cells, a subpopulation of T cells for body defence, thus causing AIDS patients susceptible to opportunistic infections and developing malignant tumours. The incidence of specific antibodies to HIV-1/2 is high in AIDS, ARC and persons with high risk for AIDS. The Accu-HIV 1 & 2 Saliva Test is designed to detect antibodies to HIV-1/2. The centre for Disease Control recommends all persons should be tested for HIV at least once to confirm their status. Regular annual tests are recommended for the following groups: ?if injecting drugs with used injection equipment ?having sex for money or drugs ?having sex with a possible HIV infected person ?having sex with more than one partner since your last HIV test ?having a sexual partner who has had other sexual partners since your last HIV test Early detection of HIV combined with antiretroviral therapy will enhance the quality and duration of life, so that the average age of persons infected with HIV will reach over 50. The HIV virus consists essentially of the two types, HIV-1 and HIV-2, which are further divided into multiple subcategories. There is a time gap of usually up to 30 days between infection and the appearance of antibodies in bodily fluids. Early detection of HIV antibodies is critical from both a personal and societal perspective. Easy To Use, But...

...a sealed pouch arrived with the 2 testers and instructions just thrown in there! It made me nervous. You get the tester wet with saliva, mix it with a fluid, and load 5 or 6 drops into the test strip. After 10 minutes, you look to see how many pink lines you see. If you test pos., u you the second test in 5 days. If you test neg., you use the second test in 30 days. Simple!

This item is not US FDA Approved!!! No application has been filed with the US FDA, as such the methods and numbers used to support the claim for 99.4% accuracy have not been provided or peer reviewed. This test is being sold illegally in the US. The US FDA has received other complaints, this (shell) company is currently under investigation. Don't believe me, visit the FDA website for yourself. This product has not received regulatory approval for sale in any country, not even in China where it is manufactured.
The second test supplied does not and cannot provide confirmatory testing for preliminary positives. Confirmatory testing can only be conducted using a different (non-rapid) testing method (PCR, ELISA, Western Blot, etc).
Legitimately US manufactured and marketed tests retail under $20, and many organizations provide FREE and CONFIDENTIAL TESTING, with counseling. Don't waste your money on this relabeled knock off.
