Viaduct Child is one of those hidden gems of the book world. I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't recieved it as a gift. Patrick Wood has created a vivid view of this world, but not as we know it,with his perfect descriptions and his interesting characters.
Through out the story I felt an empathy with Dushma and her plight as the descriptions made by Wood were amazingly real and percise and I believe that it's his attention to detail that makes this a very strong story. This book is one to be treasured and enjoyed. By children or adults, because you can always grow up but you can stay a child indefinatly.
It's one of those stories that you can read again and again without getting sick of and that is an accomplishment for any book. The fascinating world Wood has created sucks you in and doesn't let go.
I suggest you spoil yourself and read this truly brilliant, captivating book. Just don't forget to let your friends have a turn with it afterwards.
