Vi is an excellent follow up to the awesome Sounds Of Violence CD and continues the same sound of music which was on that release. Sy Keeler voice is just truly awesome and the band has never sounded better imo and i am old enough to have been around when Power From Hell was released, so if you thinking of getting this and liked the last CD Sounds Of Violence then you will love this because this is some of the best thrash metal around...period!

i have gotta agree with one of my fellow metal reviewers below when bands like Onslaught,Overkill,Testament & Annihilator are releasing some awesome thrash music and considering how long the above mentioned bands have been going/around, then its a true testament to how great these guys are.

Thrash through and through. No deviation, no hesitation, no let up. A delight to these aged ears. Sounds like everything either starting with "nu" or ending with "core" never happened.

The big four are dead long live the big four - Onslaught, Testament, Overkill & Sodom are getting better and better with nearly every album.

I rarely write music reviews - music reviews can be so subjective. However if this was one of the 'big 4' there would be rave reviews from all and sundry about how the group had gone 'back to roots' and produced an album of great thrash music - 'their best since...'. The problem with Onslaught is that this is what they do, album after album without ever seeming to get the credit they deserve. VI is the latest entry in their catalogue and just continues the theme of uncompromising, heavy, riff-crunching thrash metal. If you want a prime example - listen to Cruci-Fiction. As this has been released around the same time as Metallica's latest live offering, I am glad I paid my pennies for this album - other albums can wait.

Spectacular third album since re-formation, and the Onslaught formula is now evidently nailed. "Sounds of Violence" was a superb album, but on "VI", things are taken to a whole new level. Brazen thrash is played to perfection on each of these very, very good compliments. Scorching lines, rhythms and exceptional riffs punctuate the very heart of thrash metal and this is done under the guidance of a much stronger arena of songwriting.

This album is frankly stunning, and certainly the best CD I have heard since Exodus - Exhibit B back in 2010. There are occasionally some nice additions of nuances like the arabic undercurrents of "Children of the sand" for example. The majority though is straight-down-the-line crushing metal. Standouts are:- Children of the sand, 66 ****ing 6, Dead man walking, and the (bonus only track) Shellshock. This extra re-recorded song can be found on the digipack version.

I live, and am from, the local area of these maestros, so this release in particular has resonated and impressed me. This is good enough to put these guys on a roadmap to anywhere.

Another predictable album. 666, hatred, death and destruction. Every Onslaught album sounds the bloody same, every album has a different line up. Does this band know when to call it a day or is the leader trying his best to squeeze every last buck out of it.
