Product Description

Product Description

These beautifully illustrated books present the best of what's new in poetry for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Many of the poems were written especially for these volumes, and among the poets included are Roald Dahl, Grace Nichols, Judith Viorst, Jack Prelutsky, and David McCord. Drawings, cartoons and photographs -- mostly in color -- draw attention to every page.

I'm 7 years old, and this poetry book is very easy to read. There are funny poems, scary poems, silly poems and ones which make you think. I like picking this book up and reading it every now and then.
My favourite poem in here is Circus Elephant because it's quite sad. The elephant used to live in the jungle and has been taken to a circus. He really misses the jungle and wants to go home. This poem also gives you ideas as to what a jungle is really like.

I've had this book since I can remember. From about the age of 5 or 6. I'm 18 now and it is still a fond memory of mine. Michael Rosen's "A Busy Day" was always a favorite of mine.
