An intense and smooth performer onstage (see the old clips of his performance on Ed Sulivan) Jackie Wilson has been and still is inspirational to many performers (Micheal Jackson owes him much.)The vocals and musical arrangements are rich and oh so easy to listen to, hence this CD gets regular playing on my system. 'Higher and higher'? An all time dance classic, it's been a hit many times and will continue to move backsides out of chairs and onto the floor for ever. The looping baseline that kicks in to start the record off and continues throughout it's 3 minutes is unsurpassed in it's ability to move feet and bodies to it's rhythm. Everyone who loves contempory music, what ever genre, should have a copy of Jackie Wilson's Greatest Hits in their collection. Cliff

i am 21 and currently & constantly in search of good music, good songwriters, new beats/rythmes(even though they might be in the past)and cool guitar playin'. This record is one of my favourites so far. check it. ks

The fact that the late great Jackie Wilson was taken from us so early as well as so sadly prompts us all to ask would he have left even greater music. Nevertheless, his legacy lives on with his late fifties doo wop style and culminating in the classic tracks [your love keeps lifting me] Higher and higher & I get the seetest feeling. I play music at weddings, 21sts 18ths etc and it never ceases to amaze me the different people of all ages who both request and enjoy those two tracks in particular. Also included is his post humous number one hit Reet petite which was released originally in the 1950`s. The subject of several songs such as Commodores Nightshift and in particular Van Morrisons I`M in heaven when you smile a big hit also for Dexy`s midnight runners, Jackie takes his place in musical history and this collection gives a very good insight into his work.
