Highlights from the 1980s comedy show, featuring a selection of performances from various stand-up comedians, including Ben Elton, Harry Enfield, Hugh Laurie, Julian Clary, Lee Evans, Jo Brand, Dame Edna Everage, and many more.
The Saturday Night Live and Friday Night Live series' were from a particularly happy time of my life and watching these highlights DVDs really brings back memories of the time.
By this third Series (renamed Friday Night Live for obvious reasons), the format was fairly settled with Ben Elton as the regular host and a plethora of comic and music acts each week.
This DVD set concentrates on the comedians (maybe for music rights reasons, I don't know). The actual series was shorter, both in terms of running time and number of weeks, than the previous Saturday series' but this is not reflected in the DVDs as they are of a similar length as the previous ones i.e. 2 DVDs of about 2 hours each.
It's interesting to see artists that are now well established, such as Jo Brand, getting their first TV breaks alongside already established artists like Harry Enfield (whos Buggerall Money joins Loadsamoney and Stavros) and Fry and Laurie.
I loved watching these DVDs and it's a real shame that it finished after this series.
