We'll never agree on what the "best" tracks are will we? I mean Faith No More have so many styles, singers, lead guitarists and the like that we will not agree on what is their best.
And therefore there is a little joke in the title,as befits a band that was never overly serious.

Personally, I am dissapointed that there is very little Chuck Mosely fronted FNM (2 songs + 1 on the Bonus disk) as the Introduce Yourself album in particular was brilliant. And Chinese Arithmetic was my favourite track.

So let's not argue about what SHOULD be on here. Let's marvel at the fact that someone has seen fit to include a couple of REAL RARITIES.
"Sweet Emotion" (not an Aerosmith cover) was only available on A Kerrang Flexi Disc and would have fitted easily onto The Real Thing - yes, it is that good. And New Improved Song (featuring Chuck Moseley!)was only available on a Sounds 7" and was again of a quality that could have made it onto either of the first 2 Chuck fronted albums - These are real rariries and never before available on CD. So Thank You whoever saw fit.

Download these tracks and save yourself the cost of buying all the other songs you already own.
Or buy for the first time and revel in the twisted genius that was Faith No More.

Their like may never be seen again on such a large stage.

With this the sixth greatest hits compilation (also the most stupid name of the lot) being no doubt released to coincide with their reformation and tour, Faith No More now have as many compilation albums as studio albums. So the big question is there any thing here that will make you want to buy it if you already have all the albums and at least one of the other compilations. Well to answer the question yes there is, as it comes with a second disc of b-sides and rare releases that most people won't have unless they bought the singles when they came out.

The second disc has ten tracks and starts off with the brilliant Absolute Zero a song that when you hear it will make you wonder how it didn't make the King For A Day Fool For A Lifetime album. The brilliant I Won't Forget You also makes the album, It was previously released on the first greatest hits album Who Cares Alot? New Improved Song was originally given away with Sounds magazine in 1988 so its a welcome addition and features original vocalist Chuck Mosley on vocals, the music from this song would be used again in the song The Morning After from The Real Thing album a year later. Also Sweet Emotion was originally given away with Kerrang magazine in 1989 so its great to get a mastered version here, It has Mike Patton on vocals singing in that nasal voice that he used on The Real Thing. Ashes To Ashes b-side The Big Kahuna is also here. Its not all perfect though Das Schutzenfest isn't great as is the live version of This Guy's In Love With You. In fact they could have left these songs off and included Another Body Murdered and This Town Ain't big Enough For The Both Of Us instead.

As with the other greatest hits (The Works being an exception) its usually a case of what didn't make the album as compared to what did.

Well, "Worth it" if you havn`t got any of the other "best of" collections that is...

Its a shame the record company couldn`t have released a live album from 1992 onwards because to me FNM were always a fantastic live band with Patton at the fore-front. This collection is a little too similer with "the works" but here it is anyway.

at least the track choices are good ones. they look deeper into FNM`s albums and pick out a lot of the fan favourites like "kindergarton", "caffine" and "the real thing". so you don`t get a run of the mill affair. the best thing about the bands music is of course its so varied and different from everything else, you can never call FNM boring! and these track choices are excellent offers.

The b-sides album is also pretty good, "absolute zero" should have been on "king for a day..." easy. all the best ones from the 1998 "best of" are also here as is the rare "sweet emmtion". it would have been nice to see the patton version of "as the worm turns" that was on the japanese "angeldust".

so overall its worth getting if you havn`t got much of FNM`s back cataloge.

True to Mike Patton's eclectic style there are some great rock songs on this and then some utter mince, like Schutzenfest.
