Beautiful music from a beautiful man with beautiful hair.,
By
This review is from: The Very Best of David Hasselhoff (Audio CD)
I came across this record at a time in my life when things weren't going well. My wife had just left me for a contortionist, my kids were all at boarding school and the dog seemed to have a lingering contempt for me that grew more and more vitriolic as the days passed. Then, like Moses into the parted Red Sea, David Hasselhoff stepped into my life and convinced me that things weren't as bad as they seemed. After initially trying to order a Julio Eglasias CD and ordering a Hasselhoff one in error, I was in turmoil. Thinking to myself that I needed to hear some sweet sweet music (my wife took all the simply red and Dire straits CDs) I put the Hasselhoff CD on. Right from the start I knew this was different. And, as the dulcet tones of the Hoffmeister drifted out of the CD player, I knew something kind of wonderful was taking place. Imagine the pure enraptured joy of winning the lottery combined with the tingly erotic sensations one gets from a jacuzzi and you can just begin to get an idea of what the Hoff's music has done for my life.
Two years on and I still spend 6 hours each day listening to David whilst browsing the web for more and more info on the permed one. Some would say this was a waste of time, I say 'Jump in my car and let's go down to hotshot city and do the limbo dance'. In short, an aural sensation akin to hearing the voice of God himself.

J'taime means I love it.,
By Tony "Tony" (Slough) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Very Best of David Hasselhoff (Audio CD)
When my good friend Ian bought this for me as a joint Birthday & Christmas present, I assumed he was being miserly and sarcastic. It was only after listening to the velvety smooth acoustic wizardry that emanates from the hoffs pores that I realised what a friend he actually was.
From the tragedy that oozes from such sad tones as 'Lonely Is The Night', to the hope of 'The Best Is Yet To Come' to the pure unadulterated rock that is 'J'taime Means I Love You', this album really is the death of all other music. Sinatra, Presley and Lennon would surely have looked to hasselhoff for musical and spiritual guidance had they been fortunate enough to co-exist. As for his visual prowess, anyone can make a music video relevant to the song they have sung, but it takes a true master of the understanding of dance, to sing 'I Love You' whilst perfectly executing a roundhouse kick, and making it look beautiful. I experienced the full spectrum of emotion in what was, quite simply, the most beautiful 63 minutes of my life. It made me weep, it made me smile and it made me love. I divorced my wife and sold everything I had. Sitting alone in my empty bedsit with only the shirt on my back and the Hoff beside me, I was happier than I have ever been before, thanks to one man. One Legend. One Hoff.

Hot Shot City!,
By
This review is from: The Very Best of David Hasselhoff (Audio CD)
As the title of this review reveals, my favourite track from amongst this cavalcade of wonders is the quite frankly resplendent 'Hot Shot City'. A modern classic, which boasts not only a fantastic hook and hypnotic lyrical depth but also some incredible spoken word moments, 'baby you look so good in those jeans, oh' being a stand out.
But don't let the perfection that is Hot Shot City distract you from the feast of musical genius that is on offer here. There is much to recommend. I can't stress enough, that this album should be listened to in order, in a dark room, with full concentration and dedication given. It is the only way you will get the best out of it. For you see, with this offering Hasselhoff takes us on a veritable rollercoaster ride of emotion and experience. He starts us off with the classic rock tones of 'Highway to Your Heart' a song which invites us into the world of the man who sings it. In the opening moments we hear him stride toward his motorcycle and rev it up. It is then that we realise, this is a lone wolf, a man who lives his life on the road. A man with rock and roll in his soul. After rocking out, Hoff then moves us through many emotional states in quick succession. Be prepared for this. You may weep. Dance Dance D'Amour - Love Everybody Sunshine - Joy Do the Limbo Dance - LIMBO These Lovin Eyes - Desire Lonely is the Night - DESPAIR! Looking for Freedom - Rebelliousness I Believe - Baywatch The Best is Yet to Come - Hope Je T'aime - Love again (but in French) Yesterday's Love - Lost love Flying on the Wings of Tenderness - Idealism - 'we'll build a castle out of honesty' - what a lyric! Crazy for You - Lust And the last two, which are all in foreign, so the sentiment cannot be understood. Take a week off work and immerse yourself in this album. You will be a better person for it.
