Product Description

Vertigo is the experimental pop bands 6th album. The group are probably best known for their albums; Homesick , and The Tracksuit Trilogy released on Berlin s City Slang Records and Tarmac and Flames on Cooking Vinyl. These albums set the template for the groups eclectic mix of rock, electronic and adult pop sounds, and gained them wide critical acclaim here in the UK and in Germany. It has to be said that the group were musically genre hopping way before the advent of the digital playlist age and if there is any experiment it is this disregard for being pigeon holed into a type of band. The Vertigo song sequence appears to be the harder rock electronic songs on side 1 and the esoteric, trumpet tinted pop on side 2. The new album displays a maturity and cohesiveness with effortless charm. You can rock or swoon. The single Little Things gained positive reviews in Unpeeled, Artrocker , Music Week and Alternative sounds. 6 Music s Gideon Coe has been championing the group. Songwriter Davey Woodwards musical history predates the experimental pop band. His previous band The Brilliant Corners gained success in the mid eighties and are regularly cited as an influential indie band of that time. Woodward continues to write wonderful engaging lyrics and its difficult to know why the experimental pop bands 17 year existence has not gained them the wider audience they deserve. If you like The Modern Lovers, Can, Magazine, LCD Soundsystem, Bright Eyes, Pixies, Pete and the Pirates, The Kinks, you will love Vertigo

Pity hardly anyone will buy this, as it is a brilliant album from start to finish, Davey Woodward's band Deserve better, but then so did his old band. includes the single "Little Things"
