Can this Tv be viewed if put on shelf higher than the bed, then watched in bed. We have a Bush Tv that can not be watched in this situation because the picture goes all dark when viewed from below.

I'm afraid all LCD screens don't look good when viewed from below. Some are better than others but it's an inherent downside of the technology. Better to find one which has 'VESA' mounts on the back and then buy a wall mounting bracket.
