This works without issue and has obviously been made from exact same mould. The build quality appears good and buttons do not feel overly cheap etc. The scroll dial if that is what she's called (the main aperture/shutter-speed dial) operates fine but with just a little less resistance than Canon's and gives a vibe that might wear and tear a little faster but very marginal.

I have a 5D3 and 5d1 and both of these have the official grips - but intending to use 6D as a small camera i was loath to spend £200 on the official grip, especially as there is no additional joystick control to present more of a challenge to a third party copies and justify investment - so i went with this one and am very happy i have. The build quality appears to stand up well against these two official grips that i have and time will tell if the internal electrical connections stand up over time. (I have had a third-party 7d grip start to exhibit very occasional but press fails after extended use and no doubt knocks and drops.)

Certainly, if you plan to use a grip only occasionally this is a much more sensible proposition than the official one and my guess it would stand up almost as well as the Canon one under stress but then you can buy three of these for the price of one official one.

This grip comes with the additional battery tray for AAs along with respective carrying case just like the official one.

Interestingly, the paintwork has been applied per the 7d1/5d2 era of cameras where the meter-hold and AF buttons are subtitled with the now superseded zoom in and out control labels (now zoom has dedicated button for use with scroll dial).

Having only used genuine Canon battery grips in the past, I was interested to see if this third party grip would even come close to measuring up for less than half the price of the Canon item..... and it does! The grip is very well manufactured, fits extremely well and feels great in use. I would definitely recommend it. Even if you don't need the additional battery life, the grip gives much greater control when shooting, the additional controls for portrait shooting are a must, once you've used a grip like this with dual controls, you'll never be without one again.

I bought this item thinking that if it comes up to, or close to Canon quality it would be a good saving over the Canon product and although it certainly looks the part and is well made and finished it lacks similar quality in the following areas. The battery compartment closure clips do not close firmly and are made of a cheaper looking and feeling plastic than the Canon one. Indeed the pencil battery container clip didn't even stay flapped flush to the item when closed, such that it flopped out as the camera was rotated. The buttons and wheel were also much noisier than the original Canon item, making an audible click when depressed or rotated. The look was quite genuine at a glance. If using the item is going to be a seldom thing for you, then you'll probably be quite happy with the item and the saving. I planned to leave the item permanently attached, so for me this item won't work as these flaws will be a source of constant botheration and will detract from the pleasure of using the camera. For this reason I'm going to give it three stars largely because I think it likely that I was just unlucky to get one with a faulty closure clip and it's significantly cheaper than the Canon item. Prepare to be slightly underwhelmed.

I received my battery grip about 3 weeks ago, very well packaged and speedy delivery as always. Immediately after unpacking the box I could tell that this was a great buy. The build quality is almost flawless to a Canon built model, its solid and the surface texture and colour matches the Camera body. I compared it with my Battery grips from my 7d and 550d, they are practically identical. The only thing that is different is the slider thingy, it has a little less tension but still works fine and feels good. Had no problems putting the battery in and connects perfect. As always it comes with a secondary tray for AA batteries like all battery grips do.
Fits the camera very well and very sturdy with a solid feel. I've been out with it a few times now and feels great in the hand and hasn't loosened off in any way. My tripod adaptor mount fits perfect and sit well on the tripod.

Verdict for me is without a doubt 5 stars, for one its 1 third of the price of the Canon version, excellent build quality and feel. Even if it doesn't last as long as the Canon model, I can still buy another one and would still saved money :)
For anyone that hasn't used a battery grip before you won't go back, they are a must for portrait and fashion photographer, very handy with grip and helps take vertical shots with ease and comfort. I myself am a landscape photographer and find it very helpful with vertical shots. And just to finish with: It makes your camera look great :)
