Had already bought 2 Meike grips for my other cameras and they performed perfectly well, so had no hesitation in buying this one.

Works 100% fine - easy to install batteries thanks to new design.

Looks great on Camera and gives it lots more balance, especially with longer lenses.

Original Canon Version costs £250 - £300 - anyone buying that as opposed to the Meike must have money to throw away.

A great product - totally recommended

Overall, I like this grip. There are few things that bother me though:
- the plastic parts are cheap and textureless
- the buttons also feel cheap, the AF-ON button and the other two next to it are so smooth that you can't realise which one you are pressing when in use.

The joystick is little bit looser than the original one of the body - works OK though. My spare battery can't be recognised when used with another battery. Only if it is used alone. I guess it is not 100% genuine (although it looks like one) and therefore the problem. However, I didn't have such problems when I had the original BG-E11 grip.

On the positive side, the rubberised grip parts are very well made and are 1:1 with the Canon grip. The fastening switch feels secure, the battery door falls well into place, the battery magazine is inserted smoothly when pushed at the end and the knob has also a smooth feel when locking, which leads to a pleasant use of the product. The shutter button is exactly like the one on the original grip - it makes click when you half-press it (which by the way I don't like - it does not feel like the shutter button of the body, but it should. Like the Canon BG-E7 for 7D).

I give this a 4*, though my honest score would be 3.7. Still, it's better than most of the alternatives. And the Canon one is seriously overpriced and has some flaws too. At the current market, this is the best bang for the buck.

EDIT: I've noticed a huge disadvantage. It drains batteries... I've left two batteries in the grip - one at 33% and one at 85%. After 5-6 days of no usage they were completely depleted! This automatically drops another star.
EDIT2: OK, I don't know why, but the battery depleting problem doesn't occur all the time.

I had been used to a (genuine) grip for the 5D MK II but couldn't justify the cost of another Canon one for the MK III that I purchased. Having spent a great deal of time scanning reviews I ordered this one.

It was well packed and arrived within the (protracted) predicted estimated dates.

Since installing it, it has been in constant use. It merges well with the camera, and performs perfectly.

Once or twice I've installed the battery compartment to find that the camera does not switch on, but this could be due to the fact that the batteries weren't quite in place.

For the money, superb!!

This brand was recommended to me by a friend after I bought the camera and I have to agree with the reviews I read which said you would be wasting your money if you bought the genuine Canon one over this

So the Canon one it (BG E11) is £240.00 this one is £41 what did I expect? ... well much better than I expected I have a real canon one for a 50d this is just as well made, looks good and works, the batteries take a bit of fitting first time but it has all the controls in the picture and they work - I will not use this a lot but when I need a battery grip it will do fine

I purchased one of these for my 60D 2 years ago and was a little wary of it being a cheap copy however when I recieved it I was most impressed by the build quality and also the fit. If you didn't know you would think it was the highly expensive Canon version.
On adding a 5D Mk111 to my bag I first checked up on this make (Meike) and found that some buyers had had problems with the batteries going flat over night. I checked other makes and found them to even worse. OK, so just loosen the battery holder that should cure it and save having to dismantle it when you have finished using it. Anyway have now recieved my new one and had no battery drain problems at all. Maybe the grip on/off switch gets moved to on as it is on the end of the grip and not directly under the LCD screen. I cannot rate this item highly enough, buy one you won't regret it.

This was very good. I've lost it now, which is a shame.
The joystick feels similarly robust as the canon one. The power switch placement is convenient and mine was suitably stiff to keep it off. The additional balance it offers to the camera really is great. The additional battery life is good, but the 5d3 lasts fairly well.

I received proper battery readouts from both batteries placed in the grip and it's useful with aftermarket blocks which I tend not to like as they often die at 30% remaining or so - with this that's less likely to damage a shot.

The extra stability I would say accounts for about half/2-thirds of a stop: so in my use it's no major difference for photography but useful for video.

Good purchase - will probably buy again, and definitely will not buy the Canon model.
