5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Show Only Gets Stronger 30 Aug 2006
By Mark Baker TOP 500 REVIEWER
After solving her best friend's murder at the end of season 1, Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) swore off detective work. She was going to relax and enjoy her senior year. In fact, she's got a boring job serving coffee. Just your typical high schooler.

Unfortunately, just when she thinks she's out, she's pulled back in. Firstly, on again off again friend Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) is accused of killing a PCHer. Then best friend Wallace (Percy Daggs III) is part of the group of starting athletes accused of steroid use.

But worst of all is the bus crash. After a routine field trip, the bus the kids were riding in plunges over the side of a cliff, killing all on board. The rich kids had gotten off, so once again social status plays an issue. But worse yet, Veronica thinks it was intended to kill her. Was she the target or was there another sinister purpose?

This show started off with a strong first season and only improved with this one. The writing is as sharp as ever. Not only did the season long storylines keep me guessing from start to finish, but the individual mysteries that only last one episode were full of twists and turns as well. In addition to the great plotting, the dialog is fast moving. Veronica's sarcasm, both in dialog and her voice over narration consistently cracks me up every week.

Building on the great writing is equally strong acting. All of the actors take the wonderful words they are given and nail it every week. Kristen Bell receives lots of praise for her work here, and it is well deserved. She consistently hits all the peaks and valleys the role demands, and makes it look effortless. Equally praise worthy is Enrico Colantoni in his role as Veronica's Dad.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'This is Neptune. Nothing happens accidentally' 20 Feb 2007
By Customer VINE VOICE
Veronica Mars's second season improves on its first and successfully manages to top the first year finale 'Leave it to Beaver' with 'Not Pictured', which is quite possibly the best episode to date. Despite the fact that this season has its convoluted moments it is still very good; while last seasons storyarc dealt specifically with Lily Kane's murder, season 2 sees the politically/socially destructive nature of life in Neptune - and alludes to a great deal of what happened in the first season. The tensions hinted at in the first year begin to come to a head... So it's Veronica's final year of high school and her wishes for a normal life are quickly shattered: 'Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in!'

Being Veronica Mars there is murder and betrayal a plenty! Due to the events of previous year, Veronica is no longer the outcast we see her as in season 1 and therefore has to learn to deal with new romantic relationships, as well as all the attention her new reputation as an amateur PI has gained her. Not to mention the bus crash. Solving the former becomes her main focus for the season; along the way various factions within Neptune weave an intricate web of lies and deceit causing Veronica to question everything and everyone.

Sheriff Lamb is in almost every episode this season and we learn how much he loves procrastination and annoying Veronica... although there are some moments that hint to a dark past. Logan is also on a self-destruct mission - does he pull himself together? You'll see. Keith, Veronica and on occasion Lamb, work together to solve the bus crash mystery - was the bus crash meant for Veronica? Was it suicide? Or perhaps something else? While newish characters like Beaver and Mac become semi-regular cast members.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good alternative to an English cover. 28 July 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I find it sad that Veronica Mars DVD boxsets have yet to be released in English but buying the European alternatives still work brilliantly.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd give it 10 stars if I could..... 30 Aug 2006
I love this show, it's one of the few American programmes I've watched that credits it's audience with more that 2 brain cells, and while that may explain why it's struggling with viewing figures into it's third season over there, it really is fun, smart and sexy TV.

With guest appearances by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob etc)and Joss Wheden and a great cast, a plot that actually requires that you pay attention, and cracking dialogue, this is an under-rated gem. The relationships are really well played, especially Veronica and her Dad, don't even get me started on Veronica and Logan.

I would recommend this to anyone who can deal with plots that deal with murder, drug-dealing and hormaonal teenagers (i.e. not your seven-year old cousin or your gran)

This is several hours of your life you'll be glad you spent in front of the box...

5.0 out of 5 stars Logan's hands say... Excellent! 26 Sep 2006
If you haven't seen the first series, make sure you buy it before watching season 2. Many references are made to the previous season and I get the impression it would be hard to keep up if you're not familiar with the characters and their backgrounds.

All the characters you know and love are back and just as witty as before. There are some new characters which are intriguing and my personal favourite, Dick Casablancas and his brother Beaver become series regulars, with Dick providing a huge chunk of the humour. As mentioned before, the set up is slightly different with one season long mystery (the bus crash), a several episodes long mystery arc (the fall out from the fight on the bridge we saw in the season 1 finale), a couple of smaller arcs and the obligatory `mystery of the week'

There are some nice extras to make up for the lack of them on the previous box set. A day on the set with Veronica Mars shows that Kristen Bell is every bit as charismatic as Veronica. A gag real and deleted scenes are also a nice edition.

This season is slightly under the par set by season one, but no less enjoyable. Due to the many mystery arcs, it can get a little hard to follow sometimes but stick with it, you'll be rewarded! The season finale is awesome and seems to wrap up the two seasons nicely in anticipation for the upcoming third.

Don't be put off by the `teen drama' tag, My Mum is in her fifties and she has finished season one and is onto season two and loves it.

Basically, if you liked season 1, buy season 2. I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.
