Devotees of celtic-influenced movie soundtracks should buy Veronica Guerin without hesitation, as there is a wealth of moody, misty instrumental tracks including the melancholic recurring theme that opens the movie.

However there are two outstanding reasons why anyone else should consider getting it as well. One is Sinead O' Connor's haunting funeral theme, performed both in English and Gaelic at the head and tail of the album.

The other is the unusual, arresting and quite singular arrangement of a young Dublin street singer, performing a folk tune called the 'Field of Athenry' (the album track is entitled 'Bad News'). This was used to brilliant effect in the movie in ths shots depicting the immediate aftermath of Guerin's murder (which one uncharitable reviewer described it as 'emotional pornography') and it sounds eerie, haunting, beautiful and emotionally powerful at the same time.

I love movie soundtracks some of my favorites being K-pax , requiem for a dream , last of the mohicans , shawshank redemption , A beautiful mind , road to perdition , gladiator and this veronica guerin soundtrack sits proudly amongst them my favorite track being "Traynor lies" lovely piano and strings. On the track "Bad news" the superb voice of young street singer Brian o'donnell makes the spine tingle especially when you read the fate related story behind that track....Yep wonderful soundtrack.

An Irish Review from an Irish Listener:
What an incredibly moving soundtrack! You wouldn't even need to see the film - this cd is stirring enough. "Bad News" is without doubt my favorite. It features 10year old Brian O'donnell a dublin street singer. Being from Ireland I have walked the dublin streets many times and have witnessed heaven-sent children's voices on the street similar to his. "The Killing" is also very dramatic. I just simply love this soundtrack! If you're a fan of the movie, a fan of the Irish, or a fan of emotion - Get this album!!
