Drive worked straight out of the box.
It is very quiet, smooth running and the container is neat and sturdy.
The internal hard drive is a 1.5Tb Samsung HD154UI.
All cables and power supply are provided including eSATA cabling (which is extra on others).
The eSATA cable fits snugly without trimming (a problem on other models).

As I want to use eSATA on files larger than 4Gb I first checked whole disk with Windows CHKDSK then converted file system from FAT32 to NTFS.
Backups went perfectly at full advertised speed.

Nero BackItUp4 Essentials is supplied on the drive (not a trial copy).
This can provide compressed backups of files, folder, drives and partitions.
It verifies all backups and provides a log which gives peace of mind that your data actually is safe and restorable.
In addition it provides a disk image facility so that you can restore any drive/ partition using a bootCD (software provided).
The bootCD uses Linux so you can restore computer even if Windows has failed.

Providing a decent eSATA cable and Nero software may be worth an extra saving of £30 value compared to other models which do not supply cables or only trial and buy software.

To date I cannot fault this product.

Great external Esata drive. Good build quality. not too noisy of hot. My third external hard drive and by far the best. I just wanted external storage big enough to collect copies of my laptop and two desktops and it does just that. It does come with some backup software but I don't need it and I'm not forced to use it as with some other drives. ESATA is a bit extravagant as you pay a premium for the faster interface and I can only use it on my 2 desktops. But it does have usb as well so its very versatile. Had a little difficulty sourcing a pci ESATA interface card for my desktop and resorted to using a cable from the Internal HDD connections. Not ideal. My other desktop an ASUS Eee PC came with the Esata connection and this provides an easy way to expand storage capacity as I use it as a Media player.
Some considerations before you buy; It does need mains power so not USB powered. The power on/off button is electronic and doesn't always seem to operate on first click. ESATA is quicker but not that much in everyday use. USB Three will soon be here and may make the ESATA interface redundant. Would I buy it again? Maybe but but the USB2 only version would probably have done and there are more USB powered options out there if you drop the ESATA requirement.
