The hi-speed USB 2.0 interface makes the transfer of data quick and easy and for added security the drive come pre-loaded with Nero BACKITUP 2 Essentials software. Features include full synchronisation and backup from your PC/laptop internal hard drive.
The automatic synchronise system (Nero BackITup2 Software in 26 languages for Windows® XP and VistaTM) allow you to back up files - no need to worry about making a back-up. Also includes a power supply with adaptor kit, allowing the adaptor to be used in multiple countries - no need to worry about a separate power adaptor. Compatible with Windows® ME/2000/XP/VistaTM, Mac OS 9x, Mac OSx10.1 or higher.

Very good product, bought one as a trial and three more afterwards because they were exactly right for the job. I use some for holding backups and some for storing video and music (all play fine from the disk). Reformatted to NTFS to allow compression, no problems at all (beware it takes several hours). The only very minor niggles were - 1. I'd prefer the power button to be on the front rather than fiddling at the back, 2. The USB lead provided is a bit short (fine to use but a bit longer would be better). Bottom line though is that I'd happily buy again.

The 1TB drive is perfect for backups. Quiet and unobtrusive it sits on my desk and does what it was bought for. For the money I don't think you can complain.

I've owned many external hard disk drives over the years (Seagate, LaCie, Iomega, Medion, Western Digital, etc.)
I have just one complaint about the Verbatim product (I own two of them).
The troublesome power switch on the back of the drive - unique in design to this make of HDD.
It's not a normal user-friendly rocker switch, but instead a horrible push-button.
So every time I want to use the drive I have to push the button on the back of the drive - can't leave it in a switched on position like other makes of HDD.
What's worse it sometimes takes two, three or four pushes of the push button to get the drive switched on (one, two or three pushes doesn't always work).
Until this design flaw is removed I will NOT be buying any more Verbatim external Hard Disk Drives.
Bottom line: if do NOT buy this drive unless:-
(1) You have it somewhere where you can reach the back of the drive easily to switch it on every time you wish to use it
(2) You have the patience to try 2, 3 or 4 times to make the push button switch work and get the drive powered up

A bit noisy but good value for money if you're not running it 24/7
I love my MyBooks and have 9 of them, as well as a couple iomegas and a Lacie so this was a bit of a risk. It looks OK, works fine on my MacBook Pro but is noisier than I like. Read more

Fine for storage but poorly thought out wiring
