Blu-ray discs get their name from blue laser technology. The shorter wavelength of the laser is the reason it is blue in colour. The blue laser has a wavelength of 405nm compared with the wavelength of 650nm for DVD which utilises red laser technology. The benefit of having a blue laser with a shorter wavelength means it is possible to write smaller data pits and therefore vastly increase the amount of data on the disc.;Blu-ray discs offer 3 to 5 times the storage capacity of a standard recordable DVD disc, enabling the recording, rewriting and playback of high definition video (HD).

As they say you get what you pay for and what i got was media that burns at the speed it says and no coasters so far have burned 3.
Have tried other much cheaper media and what a joke that was more coasters then a cocktail bar.
Buy this media it pays in the end over cheaper media that is on the market.

Since purchasing a named brand such as Verbatim I have not had any failures.

I think blue ray BDR discs are shockingly overpriced, and cannot believe how slowly prices have fallen compared to the introduction of DVDs. I was therfore very pleased to find these top quality discs on sale at a much more realistic price. They are top quality and I am completely happy with the result of my home videos so far.
