At twenty-seven, Alex Wilde feels like her life is going nowhere. She's stuck in a dead-end job and her relationship history is a tale of woe. What's more, she's put on a few pounds lately...
Sharing a house with three gorgeous girls doesn't help. Her sister Gail got more than her fair share of the good genes, Keisha is an ice-cool man-magnet and Bronwen is so hip it hurts. With competition like this, is it any wonder Alex feels so inadequate?
Alex has two choices: she can retreat to the safety of her duvet and stuff herself with chocolate or she can smarten up her act and face the world head on. Never one to choose the easy option, Alex realises she needs to up her game if she wants to stay in it...

The best cure for PMT since chocolate!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Venus Envy (Paperback)
This book by Louise Bagshaw, had me in stitches from start to finish. It was suprisingly unlike most of her books as it mainly focused itself on comedy, rather than sex and romance, and she actually managed to pull it off!The characters are great and belivable, especially the main character, who makes you realise your not the only girl who goes out with bastards, ladders their tights on the way to work, gets sweat patches on important dates, has a friend that gets all the male attention and the only person whofeels guilty for having a massive chocolate binge after being stood up! The character is actually so unlucky in this story, that it makes you feel a bamned sight better about your own life!! This book had me in stitches for ages and I wish I could be there in real life so I could punch that little sister in the face AND have the "Louise Bagshaw" happy ending!!!!!!!

I am a massive fan of Bagshawe but this book disappointed,

The reason Louise Bagshawe is one of my favourite authors is because her characters are strong, ballsy women who are not afraid to go all out to get what they want. I usually find her books very inspiring and they always make me want to make the most of myself to acheive my ambitions (Well who wouldn't want the lifestyles her heroines have!)However, I found this book to be her weakest effort yet. Alex spends most of the time feeling sorry for herself, waiting to be rescued by her knight in shining armour and I didn't find the other characters very believable either. I did enjoy Venus Envy and it was very funny in places but I much prefer her usual style of writing. I must say I was relieved she did not carry on in the same style as Venus Envy as her next 2 books A Kept woman and When she was Bad are fantastic.

This book, I have to say, is brilliant. I took it on holiday to Greece with me and my boyfriend was going mad because I couldn't put it down.
