I just picked this book up, which is a collection of the comic 'Venom' - issues #1= #5. I could not put it down until I finished it, turning straight from it to this Amazon review and it is just fantastic.
Many Marvel comics look at life through different tinted spectacles, but through the spectacles of Venom we see a snip-it of reality that may not be that far from home for some of us, as well as what happens to a hero when the man has lived a life that isn't light, fluffy and fake.
What is a hero? What is a villain? How would a hero look when dealing with the harrowing realities of life as it affects every part of their being? How would a hero look when the very thing that makes them who they are is the very thing that breaks who they are?
With dark yet brilliant artwork this comic tackles some deep issues in a creative way! Give it a read!
