Feel the glow 5 Jun 2007
Fun:
The initial picture makes out this item is of a grey colour, it is in fact white -ever so slightly off that of the Wii- as the others depict. The blue glow is a very close match to that of the Wii's and looks beautiful either side of the unit, accompany that with the drive slot pulsing its a very pretty sight indeed.

The cooling stand is powered by the Wii via a USB slot and is functional while the Wii is powered on or in standby (WiiConnect24) mode. There is a switch upon the rear of the stand offering three options: Off / Fan On / Fan On + Lights On. So if you wish to keep the fan going while your Wii sits in standby but don't want the blue glow blaring away, the option is there.

The stand itself isn't as heavy as it looks (or as i thought it would be) but it is of adequate weight and its design offers great stability, so no worries there. Its of a sturdy build and feels very well put together. The Wii fits snuggly into the stands slot and aligns nicely overall, which is a plus on presentation.

Why the 4 stars? Well the fan is quite noisy considering its size. This isn't a problem during gameplay, but during standby its noticeable (should the room be silent, i.e. at night). Another thing, considering the fan is constantly at full speed, the drop in temperature during standby isn't that massive. Don't get me wrong, there is indeed a drop but its nothing compared to simply turning on the Wii.

In-all this item succeeds in what it aims to do; it knocks off a couple of degrees during both on and standby and looks ultra cool at the same time.

Cool! 14 May 2007
By Mark
Fun:
This is brilliant to have for your wii console! My console seemed to crash a few tiems after being on for so long, so I decided to buy this cooler. First off, it feels strong and looks good! There is a usb cable to connect to your wii for it to work! The cooler fan is quite fast and does the job well. There is a little bit of noise but not loud enough to distract you. The LED's along the side just makes it look much better and is very bright! You have the option to have the fan on with the lights on or without the lights on. Either way I am pleased with this piece of kit!

Cool! 26 Jan 2009
Fun:
You have to wonder, if the Wii creates sufficient heat to warrant an additional cooling fan? Especially considering that the Wii, is next gen in all areas but the labour intensive graphics, ie, the chips that create most of the heat are only a step on from the Gamecube processors...

Before I brought, and i've had this for some time now, i was able to check the temperature after 1 hour's play in a graphically intense game, Res Evil 4. Internally my Wii was venting air at 40degrees centigrade. (thats pretty hot)

WITH this system turned on, my Wii vents air at around 8degrees less dependent on ambiant temperature. (enclose your Wii in a TV cabinet with limited space and air flow and you are asking for trouble).

The Only annoyances are....1 for such a tiny fan, it's noisey. I had to dismantle mine and reseat the fan with a felt pad. 2, the blue lights are bright and distracting, and they don't turn off when you power down into standby...which wouldn't be hard to integrate.

Overall if your Wii is gasping or Freezing Mid Screen...buy one...it's worth the time and money.
