We continue where Diplomacy of Wolves cut us off so abruptly. Danya birthed Solander, the Reborn. She still dreamed of revenge against Crispin, Anwyn, and Andrew Sabir, as well as, against her own House.
Ry caught up with Kait and they began their wary dance. In the first book we found out Kait could skinshift to wolf or fish form. Book two showed another form that she and Ry could do. Dughall showed Ry what they were truly fighting for. In doing so, Ry's whole outlook on life changed, along with his priorities. They all join forces.
The Dragons were released from the Veil and possessed the bodies of powerful people. Through their dark magic Calimeeka's fate was sealed. Using the lives and souls of those who dwelled within the city as fuel, a new city emerged. It would not be long before the Dragons would turn their sights beyond the city to the rest of the world.
Luercas remained a curious puzzle in the first book. In this one we learned why he was helping Danya. I can say no more on that without giving away too much.
**** I thought this one to be as awesome as the last! However, again, the reader is left hanging in the middle of a vital second. Consider yourself warned that even though this author is fantastic, it is best NOT to begin reading this trilogy until all three books are released! Unless you have all three before you begin, you will not be satisfied and will probably end up angry. If you purchase all three at once and go from one straight into the next, you are in for a treat! The author weaves a fabulous tapestry of magic that will leave you breathless!

This book not only stood out as an excellent read, but also as an image of female power! The story is: Kate Galweigh still searches for the mirror of lost soals, anxious to reclaim her lost family. Crispin Sabir searches for the mirror to gain power. The two quests are unknowingly drawn together as a force more powerful then the wolves could ever imagine is awakened. Elsewhere tragedy occurs with a death of a child!! This book is excellent as it has adventure, romance and an unwavering sense of reality which is quite chilling at points. This sense of reality provides what is needed to make this book believable within the Fantasy genre limits!! I definately recommend this book to the avid Fantasy reader as they have not lived until they have read this!! The first and last books make the story complete! An excellent read!!!

Vengeance of Dragons is an excellent story but unfortunately suffers a little from being obviously the second part of a trilogy; it goes far deeper into the world of Matrin and draws you further into the characters, but at the same time seems to be very much a bridging between Diplomacy of Wolves and Courage of Falcons rather than a novel in it's own right. Still, Holly Lisle's strength as a writer comes shining straight through, with continuing full descriptions of characters' thoughts, appearances and actions, clear pictures of various scenes, and the ability to provoke emotion in the reader. Vengeance of Dragons is a worthy sequel to Diplomacy of Wolves and I look forward to reading the conclusion of the trilogy.

This book continues directly on from the previous volume (Diplomacy of Wolves). The storyline is fairly typical epic fantasy, but despite that is interesting and well done. Read more

By the end of the first, I was actually starting to ask myself, what this series is about. The whole thing seemed a little aimless. Read more
