I'm a fan of Lonely Planet, but this volume lets the series down badly, consistently overplaying humdrum places and hotels, and missing some of the real jewels of this wonderful country. Shoddy.

The perfect Venezuelan Tour Guide

My wife is from Venezuela and we went to Venezuela in January 2012. Since I was going to Venezuela for the first time, I was looking for some information online about travel in Venezuela and ended up buying this book for my Kindle Fire. This is truly a great book for someone who is traveling to Venezuela for the first time or someone who has lived in Venezuela for their entire life. Venezuela has one of the most diverse climates in the world and this book explains how to navigate through every corner of the country. And the best part, Its in English!! This book is also a great resource for learning about the culture and history of Venezuela, which even my wife who was born and raised in there did not know. I'll have to admit, Me Encanta Venezuela! and this book was invaluable to my journey. I'm looking forward to checking out all of the spots in the book that I didn't see this time.
I learned about the famous steak "Punta Trasera" at Casa Valencia in my wife's hometown of Valencia. "Punta Trasera" was not available so I settled for "Solomo" which was good but I had my heart set on the "Punta Trasera". I think its equivalent to our "Prime Rib" but I will be making back to Casa Valencia really soon to find out for myself.

a country is more than politics. it would seem this is pushing a political agenda and lacks many details about cities, what to do, and how to travel and enjoy this country. worst guide ever.
