Product Description

George never meant to kill the thief – he was just defending his shop from the jacked up kids trying to rob him. Break the kid’s jaw maybe, but not kill him. Later the doorbell rings and in revenge the gang swarm into George’s house, beat him senseless, rape his wife, tie them up and set fire to them.
It isn’t long before Jimmy Vickers, George’s son, is on the trail of the gang who murdered his parents, exacting his own kind of chillingly brutal justice. Jimmy is an interrogation specialist for the military in Afghanistan who knows more than he should. With the police closing in and his own regiment also determined to stop him, the body count mounts up. Jimmy creates a media frenzy - London’s first vigilante of the 21st Century - but will his devastating course of action spell the end for the woman he loves?

Got this book for my husband to read before we watched the movie. He has yet to read it as I hijacked it first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vendetta 8 May 2014

A quite a violent story. Not for the faint hearted. A very troubled man bent on revenge, and gets it. Very well written and if you like the style of Nick Oldham's writing then I would recommend it. A very down to earth writer. I love all the that Nick Oldham has written. I am on my sixth now and I just cant put it down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really?? 16 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book as research for one I'm writing myself. I wanted to know what level of twist was acceptable for today's reader. Turns out,not much . Having said that its got Danny Dyer holding a gun on the cover so what did I expect you might say? Well I couldn't believe the same old tried story could get published, let alone made into a film. Turns out I was wrong. Army dude from a crack interrogation military team has to wreep rewengy on bad dudes from the street after they kill folks! He takes out baddies without even a scratch, wadda wadda... at one point some one even said "He's the best" come on!
Having said all that, this has been published and at the moment, I can only hope to be.... so who am I to judge, and I did quite enjoy it . It just goes to show that leaving brain at the door books and films have a place, there's hope for me yet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very average 15 Dec 2013

Probably will be a good film but as a book it's dull and uninspiring. The plot is thin and very predictable and the characterisations are very weak and one dimensional.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many lose ends! 8 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Like all Nick Oldham books a nice easy read. I do however feel that there were too many unanswered lose ends.
Predictable nearly all the way till then end, then a smack in the face for anyone who even thought there might be a truly happy ending. Not in the Christie class!

Really enjoyed this book. Not usually a fan of these type of books but thought I'd give it a try and glad I did! Worth a read.
