The Pebble is a great product that works well. However, Amazon have got their descriptions confused. The ordinary Pebble does NOT have the wide range of charging tips, including for Nintendo DS/DSi as advertised. Those tips only come with the Pebble XT. This is clear on the Veho website.

This is a great little unit with 5,000mAh capacity, compared to around 2,000mAh of most rivals - ie it should last twice as long. I used it mainly to power a GPS watch during a long ultramarathon, and it performed superbly. It also had plenty of power left to recharge my iPhone and still show more than 50% capacity.

The surface of the battery has a very appealing soft neoprene texture, which is easy to grip if your hands are a bit on the hot and sweaty side. it has 2 ports - a small circular one for charging it, and a standard USB port for charging other devices. It comes with a range of adapters, including at least 2 for Nokia, iPhone, mini USB and others I didn't recognise. It has a short USB / round cable that is used to charge the device from a USB adapter / charger, and then is plugged in to the other port + adapter to charge the various devices. I tried a number of other USB cables and they all charged the relevant devices fine. So if it doesn't come with the adapter you want, so long as you have a USB cable that will connect / charge your device, it should work fine. Although it takes a few hours to charge from a computer USB port, I used a Mac USB power adapter, and that seemed to have it fully charged in just a few hours.

The battery turns itself off when not in use, so when you want to charge something you need to remember to push the 'on' button - it won't necessarily automatically charge just by plugging something into it. This is actually a useful safety feature to prevent unintended drain on the battery, but always check that your device is actually charging once plugged in etc. It also turns itself off once it has finished charging itself or your device - again, a useful energy saver.

The battery capacity is huge. The iPhone 3G has a battery capacity of 1150 mAh apparently, so this is an additional 4x that + some, so should provide a number of days usage.

If you have any device that can be charged by USB cable, and have the right cable or can use the supplied adapters, this is an immensely handy and very nicely made piece of kit. Perfect for any expeditions away from home, or keeping somewhere handy for when your device runs out of puff. I agree that the case could have been made more thoughtfully so that it accommodates the adapters as well as the battery. However, I just put the adapters & cable in the case, then shove the battery in, and it seems to work perfectly well. I love it. Great kit. Highly commended.

I ordered this after trying many other portable charging devices to charge my iphone 3GS. These included the nexxus powerboost pro and nexxus powerpack pro. Both of these worked the earlier not even managing a full charge and the latter breaking after only a few months use and only managing 1 full charge at a time.

The pebble is way better - it fully recharged my iphone from just under half capacity 6 times!! and can easily do 2-3 full charges. The build quality appears good -more solid than other ones I've owned. Maybe a touch on the large size but I can put up with that for the performance you get. You do after all get 5000mAh capacity. The neoprene cover is very nice.

One thing I particularly liked is the iphone charge tip actually works and you can use the extendable cable. So many other charging devices require you to use the iphone cable which is just more to carry around. After emailing Veho technical support I can confirm that the pebble can be charged using a standard USB charger plug such as that supplied with the iphone, which I find much easier than charging from a PC USB port.

The device also charges my wifes HTC desire with no problems, which means I have to now share it with her!! You can get other 5000mAh chargers from the apple store but they are usually £50+. The pebble is definately value for money!
