I am a big fan of Lonely planet books and have plenty of them on my selves. But this was probably the worst one that I have from them. I found that there was not really enough information about what to do, see and find in all of the casinos and that there was too much information which I personally found unuseful and unhelpful.
The best part of the book was the history of Vegas, which I found very interesting.
I would actually say that if you are going to Vegas that you probably don't even need such a book. There is so much in all of the Casinos that after 4 days we did not see no where near all of the free things, let along the other things which you can pay to see (the dolphins in the Mirage for example). And there is also plenty more to see and do in and around Vegas.

Having been very loyal to the Lonely Planet series over the years for travelling, I am bitterly disappointed in this little book. Given it was 2009 edition, there were some glaring inaccuracies, and omissions. Main hotels were missed out altogether - just gaps on the maps - great restaurants (Hugo's cellar) ignored and a sparse review of Downtown. It felt as if someone had been visiting Vegas, done a few days, got bored and wrote about the few things they saw.....sadly it's back to the Rough Guide for me :)

Great little book but it is small so ideal for going into a pocket but on the other side the type is smaller so slightly harder to read but an excellent book
