Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero have created another instant classic. Cookies get the treatment given to cupcakes in Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World: 75 Dairy-free Recipes for Cupcakes That Rule, with recipes ranging from your basic chocolate chip, peanut butter, and oatmeal raisin cookies, to the fancier and more complex chocolate peanut butter pillows. It even includes healthy(ish) cookies (since cookies aren't usually health food, even if they're vegan) and bars (brownies, blondies, etc.), a troubleshooting guide, a pantry-stocking guide, and advice on substitutions (like for when you've run out of brown sugar or oil) and making your cookies gluten-free or lower in fat. There's even a recipe for Oreo-type cookies! Though the measures are American (you'll need cup measures), most of the ingredients are easy enough to find in the UK.

Like all of their other books, the writing is accessible and conversational - you could read this like a novel. This is a great book for anyone who is or knows or might think they'll eventually meet a vegan or cookie-lover, or for any bakers of any skill level.

Oh my goodness, this book is fantastic. I have made several of the cookies in the book so far and thoroughly recommend them. I've made the sweet wine cookies, chocolate oatmeal, cherry and almond, all gorgeous. Although the author doesn't recommend substituting the oil used in the recipes for apple sauce (to reduce fat content), I have done so for all of the cookies i have made so far, with no problems. There is a very helpful section at the start for vegans new to baking about substitutions and egg replacements. I also really appreciated the 'wholesome' section, for healthier options such as track bars.

I've had this book for about a month and I've already made the Minonos, Mexican Chocolate Snickerdoodles, Carrot & Raisin Spice Chewsies, Rocky Roads, Cowboy Cookies, Peanut Butter Oatmeal and Oatmeal Raisin. They've all turned out GREAT! I've made loads of them twice as well and given the cookies as Xmas gifts.

I especially recommend the Rocky Roads and they look exactly like the do on the cover and are really impressive! Someone else who submitted a review said they'll taste even better if you replace the oil in most of the recipes with vegan margarine (like Vitalite, Pure, or Earth Balance) so I'm going to start trying that from now on.

This book is amazing. Buy it, buy it, buy it!
