The product is a real help it does what it says however it is a little bit more complicated than the literature makes out, a couple of examples. The movie files that the in built player will play seem to be a bit hit and miss, this all seems dependent on what codecs you have on your machine. Also I dropped one AVI file into the player and it worked, then the next AVI file did not work, so a bit confusing. That said you can play the selected file through say Media Player or VLC and then that will show on your TV.
The other problem I have had is not been able to get the picture to fill my whole TV screen, I have contacted tech support and they have responded promptly.
Web browsing is nice on the big screen.
Now for an update, well I am returning the item, to be honest it is more hassle than it is worth especially if your laptop has an HDMI output, if it has you are better buying a HDMI cable and doing it that way because the performance is much better.
Obviously this new review contradicts some other reviews but in my opinion it is not worth the money. I have a high performance laptop, you know dual core good ram graphics card etc (its brand new) clear line of site from laptop to the TV where the receiver is say 3 metres away, however with all of this the performance is lets say average.
My main gripes are the included player is temperamental at best, it will play one file then not another, I have downloaded all of the recommended codec packs and more yet its still a total pain!
So then you have to play the file with Media Player and just broadcast it across to the TV, problem is then the performance and quality drops as the laptop is working twice as hard.
Then you start asking yourself, why bother? when a 5m HDMI cable costs about £10! Obviously as stated above if you dont have an HDMI output you dont have much choice, but if you do dont bother with this.
