#1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR

A team of scientists unlocks the secret of the next phase of human evolution in the most unstable geological region on the planet…at the bottom of the sea in the Pacific Ring of Fire. When a massive earthquake rocks Oceania, generating a tsunami that decimates the surrounding islands and sinks the research vessel, a rescue team is dispatched…only to find that the majority of the crew had been slaughtered prior to the ship’s foundering.

The survivors find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere on an island that’s being ripped apart from the inside out, desperately trying to reach the lone settlement on the far side.

But they aren’t alone.

Something is hunting them from the jungle, something borne of the fire at the Earth’s core. And their only hope for escape rests in the hands of a man who would sooner let them all die than share the island’s secrets.

Includes a free bonus novella: Blindspot.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GRIPPING, SUSPENSEFUL THRILLER! 5 Dec 2011
By William C. Rasmussen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Right up there with BURIAL GROUND and PREDATORY INSTINCT, Michael McBride's VECTOR BORNE is a tight, gripping, sci-fi/horror thriller that will have you thumbing the next page button on your ereader as fast as you can! I've read virtually everything that this author has released---short stories, novelettes, novellas and novels---and this lengthy tale is one of his best! A superb, suspense-filled book with enough twists and turns to keep you intrigued and guessing from the first page to the last! You can't go wrong with McBride!!! My highest recommendation!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this author! 18 Mar 2012

Michael McBride can wring so much original subject matter out of the lost peoples of ancient Mesoamerica. This story, like Burial Ground, starts with the premise that scientists want to uncover and understand the reasons the Mayans, Inca, Anasazi, etc. disappeared without a trace. This book's theory revolves around major natural disasters like volcanoes and tsunamis. As always, the science woven into the story along with real historical events, gives this book a ring of truth and inspires fright simultaneously. I love that the science is easily understandable even though at times it's quite technical. His descriptions are also right on! When I finished this book, I felt like I just completed pre-expedition training.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome take on the 'ITS ALREADY INSIDE" style of horror 9 April 2012

I've been on a alien/monster kick lately. So few writers can make a monster compelling or memorable. In spite of this one clearly fitting an archetype thats been pretty well established; it works. It works marvelously in fact. The whole thing is told at absolute break-neck speed and I honest to god forgot to eat and go to the bathroom until it was done and I loosed a ragged sigh of relief. Excellent if simplistic story-telling. Solid, utilitarian writing. He tells the story with the bare minimum of descriptives, and the whole thing works so much better as a result. You fill in the blanks after a cursory mention of physical description, ala Lovecraft. I look forward to more bug-hunt type stuff from Mr. McBride. He does it VERY well. It seems like he had a lot of fun writing this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read 26 July 2012

I found this book a good read. My only complaint is the beginning chapter. While interesting, it had many errors regarding Chaco Canyon in northwest New Mexico. As I've worked there as an archaeologist, it made the chapter hard to get through ...after that a good read.
