After complaints that the old Dyson was no longer up to the job I was reluctant to shell out a couple of hundred £s to replace it and, after much research, went for this item from 247electrical (via Amazon). Great design, not light in weight (but neither was the Dyson) but a very powerful performer. A couple of attachments (which are more than enough - how often do you lose yours?!) and simple to change operations. Funky light on the front for nocturnal suction activities...
Easily competes well with Dyson for a third of the price. 'Nuff said.

Swift delivery on this product.

Very pleased with this vacuum cleaner.
I did not find it hard to put together, nor do I find it heavy to use.
Only down side is the length of the cable - I find I need to change the plug to another socket when doing some of the larger rooms, but altogether I am very happy with this purchase.

I have had upright cleaners in the past but i have always taken them back as most say that they are for hard floors but just chuck the mess straight out of the back. With this hoover you can turn the brush off when using it on hard floors thus solving the problem. It also has a long telescopic tube for stairs and hard to reach places and is very easy to empty. Very impressed for the price!

Have just bought this vacuum cleaner and have found it excellent. I have two dogs so my cleaner works very hard, but this Vax copes very well. I also find that the controls are in a much better position, on the handle (my last cleaner had controls at floor level) so,as I have arthritis, these are so much easier to use. Excellent value for money and very manouverable.

Having used a bagless cleaner at her mates missus said she'd never want one. Old cleaner packed in so decided I'd buy one for her to try when I saw this on Amazon at a good price. Bit dubious because only one review. No need as it is brilliant. Bought V125 carpet cleaner at same time. Another 5 star product.

I have had a VX1 for 4yrs now, I think this model must have superseded it, but it seems very similar. I love my Vax, it is thorough, rarely blocks up, if it ever does it is simplicity itself to clear, if you should get something caught in the brushbar the motor cuts out, so it is a simple matter of pressing a button to reset it.

I have previously had a Dyson and had nothing but trouble with it, it blocked up each time I used it, it was fiddly and difficult to clear the hose didn't suck properly, The bottom plate was extremely difficult to get back on after removing drive belt to unblock the tiny space behind. Give me Vax every time. I have just bought their Dual V washer as well and am thrilled with that too. Top marks for Design to Vax....thank you.

I picked this Vax model after reading lots of reviews, and wanting a change from Dyson as my 4th one of those has just died. Overall the Vax is very good with a couple of minor issues. Firstly the hose is too short to do all of the stairs from the bottom, secondly although it looks huge and measures over 30cm high, the waste collection bin is actually tiny as the max fill level is less than 7cm from the bottom and you will fill it very very quickly because the suction is brilliant. in fact it is a little too good for my sons bedroom rug which is quite thin an as a result needs weighing down with some willing volunteers otherwise it gets eaten! On proper carpets and good quality rugs it really great and on wooden floors a flick of the switch on the handle turns off the brush which stops stuff being blown away before you can suck it up. Although a larger bin would have been nice I wouldn't let it put you off buying one as the way you empty it is very quick clean and easy. Overall a good little sucker.

The Vax is cheaper, has better suction, is more robust, is easier to clean, is easier to empty, is more manouverable, is easier to carry, cleans better, works better at the edges, has a better tool set and is quieter than any Dyson (I've had four) I've owned.

The Dyson has a longer lead.

So, that's Vax - 11, Dyson - 1. No contest.

TWO YEARS LATER: Time to replace the foam filters. Vax tell me that THEY NO LONGER SUPPORT THIS ITEM FOR SPARES!

I bought a carpet cleaning machine today. It would have been a Vax, but as I don't buy from manufacturers that don't care about their customers, it's a Bissell. I don't know what make my next vacuum cleaner will be: except it will NOT be a Vax!

Good call, Vax.
