My first thought on this item was it would not be up for the job. Easy to assemble and use. My carpets look brand new the amount of dirt and muck it sucks up is unbelievable. The carpets are nearly dry when it cleans them as well so there is no waiting for them to dry. This is definatly value for money.

Used my VAX Rapide for the first time yesterday and it is brilliant - you can actually see the dirty water for yourself, so you know it is working and the carpets are touch dry immediately after you've cleaned them. My house now sparkles!
Wish they had an attachment for the stairs though.

A good machine. Cleans well and dries well, although be aware that the cleaner your carpets are to start with, the better it will dry them (the deep embedded dirt retains water, frequent washing gets rid of it and therefore lets it dry easier).
The only downside is the noise, it's quite possibly quieter having a jet engine strapped to your shoulders!!
