Punk is one of those words the means something pretty specific now - bratty guys with tattoos and playing power chords bitchin' about stuff. But, in 1979, punk could apply to everyone - from the Sex Pistols to Joy Division to the Talking Heads. This is a great compilation with vital music from the era that isn't really ultra punky. The music is smart, inventive, fast, herky jerky and fun. There are even some very pretty vocal performances from the Chefs. Fans of the TV Personalities and Desperate Bicycles will love this. Great stuff!
