These versions of Vaughan Williams' 4th and 6th are superb in every way. They are excellently recorded in a glowing acoustic and posess all the fire and power that one could wish for. Berglund finds the 'line' without error and can help you to make sense of even the most complex of passages.

The Tallis Fantasia may not be recorded quite so spaciously, but the various 'voices' sing wonderfully and with great atmosphere. It would have been nice for this to have been set into a much larger acoustic, but it still sits well on the ear.

The Oboe Concerto and Wasps overture are both done well. Although I have heard the concerto played with much greated technical security this is still easily a performance to live with.

The Fifth Symphony - a work I hold close to my heart - is not quite on the same level as the rest. It is very well recorded, but the RPO strings don't make use of their fullest pallette and the whole performance leaves a slightly bloodless impression.

Overall excellent value for money, but please don't make this your only Fifth. Hickox, Handley, Haitink and Previn make so much more of this great score.
