Product Description

Product Description

Varmints is a cryptozoological survey of mystery carnivore folklore (stories and sightings) in North America. Black panthers, maned felines, giant polar bears, dwarf grizzlies, and many more alleged predators have been reported, though most are dismissed out-of-hand by wildlife officials. Cryptozoology researchers and enthusiasts alike will find cases worth exploring, and some tantalizing leads for future investigation.

Another masterpiece! 14 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
Chad Arment's latest collection of archival research on mystery animals of North America surpasses his previous volumes--The Historical Bigfoot and Boss Snakes--in scope and detail. As always, Arment has culled media archives for detailed reports of unidentified creatures abroad in the land, with many accounte presented verbatim. He does not proselytize for the existence of new or unknown species, but unlike some professional debunkers, he allows for the possibility of their existence based on concrete evidence collected scientifically. With 600 individual "varmint" cases spanning 240 years from 1770 to 2010, 66 B&W illustrations, and an exhaustive bibliography containing 470 sources for further study, Varmints is a must-have book for any reader interested in natural mysteries. Don't miss it!
