VARILIGHTVarilight dimmer switches have an industry-wide reputation for exceptional performance, long life and innovation at attractive prices. Like all our products these dimmers are designed to meet the latest European Safety Legislation.
It is important to select the correct dimmer switch for your application so please read the following information carefully.
Our standard dimmers are recommended for mains voltage lighting only, although they can also be used on low voltage applications but the Intelligent (IQ) Dimmer is best suited for these applications.
The lights are dimmed by a rotary control knob and turned on and off by a rotary onoff action.Rotary onoff dimmers are only suitable for 1-way circuits. When selecting a standard dimmer add up the wattages of the bulbs you wish to dim and choose a dimmer with a suitable maximum load rating.
1 way Rotary dimmers can be used for mains incandescent GLS lamps (standard mains light bulbs), maximum load as specified on the dimmer. It can also dim GU10 or similar Hi Spot Mains Halogen lamps (only use quality UK supplied lamps) maximum load as specified on dimmer. [Please note by using TouchRemote Dimmers there is a zero risk of damage in case of lamp failiure and a dramatically improved lamp life].
If you are using the dimmer with quality low voltage transformers such as VARILIGHTVarilight low voltage transformers (product codes: YT50L, YT70L, YT105, YT150, YT250) you can control them up to maximum load as specified on the dimmer. If you are using other low voltage transformers, not made by VARILIGHT we recommend only to control up to 5 low voltage transformers per circuit, as long as the total load does not exceed maximum wattage stated on the dimmer. [Noise levels may vary depending on type, quality and quantity of transformers used].

The unit is of a reasonably good build quality and looks good on the wall. Easy to install, gives a good range of light levels which is good for the childrens bedrooms for winding down time, only 4 stars though as it does not tell you the dimmer wont work properly with energy saving light bulbs the watt's are too low, it was flickering with my 23W bulbs and a refer to the instructions it tells you there. I imagin it will work with standard bulbs and it did work with the halogen energy saving bulbs of 70W that I had to go out and buy.

It fit perfectly, as I bought it to replace a remote control dimmer switch that was too big at the back and ended up nearly causing a fire! I would have liked it to switch off by pressing the middle, but I didn't expect it to do it as I didn't read that on the description! As I said though, it fit perfectly and was very easy to install, it works fine too.

Good no nonsense dimmer switch
Nice, simple and basic dimmer switch, just turn the knob to switch the lights on and set the desired brightness. Good quality plastic housing and simple to fit.

Better than Wickes!!
Great item! Cheaper versions from places like Wickes have switches that do not click, or stop clicking very quickly! This is sturdy and robust. Read more
