Planning for a trip that will include Vancouver Island I thought that the map I had was a little too small and thought a bigger scale map would be useful, as we intended to drive from Victoria to Tofino. I hasten to add that we have no intention of kayaking, or hiking.
The map itself opens out to a large size with one side of the sheet showing the north of the island and the other the south.
Rivers/waterways are marked and indicate canoe/kayak routes. And there is good indications of hiking pathways and camping places. I know a lot of people chose these modes of transport and so a map like this is essential. Personally, in these circumstances I might wish to have a map that is 'plasticated' to keep it dry.
The map is, perhaps, a little oversized for normal driving, though for anyone really wishing to explore the hinterland, again, it is brilliantly fine.
For our purposes, you could say that the map is a little OTT, but you never know til you're there where else you might wish to go!
